Wow, ya see or hear something new every day!
Last night I was picking my son up at a friend's home and his little sister was telling her mom about Big Ben who she saw for first time at my daughter's first grade "Pet Day" last month. She announced that she had a book with a dog on it who looked just like our Ben...and the book was called 'Big Ben.'
Well, I have a first grader and I know things aren't always what they seem. I politely acted impressed until she appeared with the book. I can't believe it! There is actually a children's book in the "Puppy Patrol" collection with a sheepie as the subject and it IS called "Big Ben!"
Just did an Amazon search and it's there. I have to buy the book now and check it out. Is anyone familiar with this book?
This is the synopsis per Amazon:
In this second book in the series, we meet Ben, a boisterous Old English Sheepdog, who is far from popular with everyone he meets. Crusty old Mrs Fitz who owns Sheba, the pampered poodle next door, can't stand him! But then Sheba goes missing in the snow and Ben is blamed.
I'm guessing Big Ben is the hero who finds Sheba. Our Ben can't seem to find his favorite toys half the time so I doubt he would ever find a pampered poodle!  And, of course, we always thought his name was fairly original....oops! |

I think this is the book. It is out of print.... ;( But they say that they may have some used available.

| I have a copy of that book that I found on ebay in unused condition. Maybe you can check there first as I thought that the seller was trying to unload a bunch of them. |

| Thanks for the ebay links; I've purchased 3 puppy patrol books! My daughter will be thrilled. She's been a slow to start reading, maybe this will spark her interest! |
What a neat story about Big Ben and what a keepsake to have! Would be neat to read to some school children then have Big Ben in for a visit.
There are also Mr Muggs books too about an OES...should anyone have named theirs Muggs. |
