Anyone have any ideas for me about Public Service Images?

I am in a design block!!!

I need an image (I need to take a photograph) of PUBLIC SERVICE
and in that single image I need to illustrate public service.

Public Service consists of Police Officers, early childhood education, social work, and so on.

Can anyone please give me any ideas? Even if you think they are bad ones, just need to give my brain a jolt here!!

Thanks!

the only thing I cna think of is firefighters rescuing people... pulling them out of buildings and such.
Since it's election time, how about a picture of volunteers at an election campaign headquarters?
Or of a politician giving a stump speech.

Perhaps public service can be in the small details of someone's vocation:

How about a picture of an EMT checking their medical equipment?
Or a fire-fighters washing their truck?

Or a nurse comforting someone in a bed?
Or cradling a newborn / preemie?

Or a bus driver helping an elderly person or someone in a wheelchair to get on board?

Or a programmer wrestling with a stupid forum server in the middle of the night?

Or Boy Scouts holding a "coffee break" at a rest stop in the middle of the night on a holiday weekend.

Or someone picking up a piece of paper off the street?

Or someone saying goodbye to their husband as their soldier goes off on deployment?
Or a soldier saying goodbye to his/her child?

So many things that say public service to me.
What kind of image are you looking for?

For something dramatic you might try your fire station.

And for something tender and heart warming how about at your local animal shelter or Humane Society. Giving someone their new puppy or kitten would be a great shot.
I guess it has to be geared toward one of these:

Criminal Justice Technology

Early Childhood Development Technology

Forensic Science Technology

Human Services Program

Law Enforcement Technology

AND I would like to keep it simple

thank you everyone
The one that comes to my mind is the pictures of the Red Cross at all the Katrina evacuation shelters.
Or you could go to your local police station and photograph the dispatchers. :)
With what you listed, my thought was a heading such as "from this to this".

With a photo of a child (innocent looking teen) advancing to one in trouble (such as a runaway on drugs)

In the background are those services you listed, with the Forensic Science being last. Sort of like "there's no reason to slip through the cracks. It doesn't have to go this far. We were all here to help."
If you do a search on google for "cheap stock photography" (in quotations) you can find a couple of places that sell royalty free photography for as little as a couple of bucks per image.

That's an excellent idea. I always stand by, why take your own when someone else may have already taken it-- and for free and no effort on my part! I use a lot of stock photography at work and I like http://www.sxc.hu/home
