Bosley and Dixie Do Thier Part

I got a call about 2 weeks ago from a family looking for a rescue sheepie. They got my name from the local Humane Society. They had a sheepie years ago for 14 years, and now are ready for another. I promised to keep an eye open for them.

This week I heard about a sheepie in rescue 6 hours away, looking for a home. A few emails and phone calls back and forth and it might just work out. The family lives 25 minutes from me, so I took both my pooches over to meet them and do a home visit.

Bosley and Dixie were both very well behaved, and didn't jump on anyone...not even the 7 year old grand-daughter. Bosley showed off his ball-fetching abilities and Dixie, well, was just her sweet, little self. The family told me that they would easily steal either one of my dogs for themselves...

But, besides Bosley taking a dump almost as soon as we got there    there had to be an "incident"...

It was a beautiful fall afternoon, warm but not hot, so doors and windows were left open for the nice breeze. Well, my dogs are not used to screen doors, or glass patio doors, for that matter. I pulled the glass patio door to the back yard closed, and briefly mentioned that it be best to keep the door closed.

As people went in and out of the house during the visit, Dixie and Bosley found it great fun to bound up the steps and in and out of the house. At one point Bosley came in with me as the woman was showing me something inside. Bosley jogged around the main floor, and bounded out towards the back yard, again......when someone had just closed the screen door. Yup, he ran right into it and his head went right through the screen! I was horrified!

The little girl started to cry, thinking he hurt himself, which he didn't. But he did leave a big, gaping, sheepie head sized hole in the screening! 8O 8O 8O

They laughed and assured us that the husband could fix it no problem, and that it was a good lesson for them, as now they can be more prepared for a new dog.

We were so embarrased......

I hope they get the dog, as they definitely passed the "reaction to a bumbling sheepie" test...

What a visit!! Way to go Bosley, making a lasting impression  .
I guess they passed the test, you need to have a good sense of humor to live with a sheepdog, that's for sure. Almost as bad as a basset...
You have got to love those big sheepie heads, sorry had a laugh at your post, my girls have done that too, we are up to our fifth fly wire screen on the sliding door

Sounds like a terrific family, I hope they can find a sheepie to love real soon.
LOL... yep I'd say they pass!
LMAO.. way to go Bosley!!!!!
At least you don't have to worry about them "stealing" Bosley now...
LOL...good one!! At least now you know they're a good sheepie home!
Bosley was doing a home test of his own!! What a riot! :rimshot:
That's really funny. Scruffy has run in to the glass door so many times, you would think she would figure it out, but no.
What a dufus! Sounds like something Jack would do. Maybe it's just the boys.............silly dogs.
Silly Bosley!
He just made a doggie door for the new sheepie so the uprights don't have to inconvenience themselves.

Did they get the rescue sheepie????
That's so funny - at least they know what they're getting into!!

I just heard tonite that they are getting him! It is a 6 hour drive, so in 2 weekends they are meeting halfway.

The weirdest thing is that this rescue boy is in the same city where I got Bosley as a pound puppy, is the same age, has a whitehead and splotchy colors, and ....a full, fluffy tail!!!!!! Just like my Bosley!

We are suspecting that they might be from the same litter of puppies that was dumped at the pound a year and a half ago.

How neat would that be! That Bosley "broke in" his brother's new family! LOL
That was hilarious.

Glad they are getting him, that is quite the coincidence about the two. Can a dna test be done? Probably expensive tho.
