How do you do STEAK?

This is one of hubby's favorite meals, and I love steak. I'm always trying to find good ways of preparing it. Uusally it just gets the old salt and pepper thrown on the foreman routine.

How do you guys do your steaks???

I sprinkle with garlic powder, salt and pepper...sit at room temp for an hour before grilling....I like them rare to medium rare...so I sear the first side on the grill for about 4 minutes on super high heat....flip over turn the heat down a bit and cook for another 4 minutes.....yum...

room temp anything grills better than a cold something!
I put a montreal steak spice rub on them, and then slop on some italian salad dressing and let them marinate for a few hours, or even better, over night, before bbq'ing them. I sautee onions, red peppers, green peppers, minced fresh garlic, onions and mushrooms in butter, salt, pepper, and worchestershire sauce and put some of those on the steak or on the side...
That's exactly what I say:

"How do you do, steak?"

Then I eat it.

I marinate my steaks in Teriyaki sauce over night. You don't need to put any seasoning on it. Then cook it the way you normally would, barbecue, Foreman's grill ect. It is great. My family's favorite steak.
Some people also smoke the steaks before cooking. That's a lot of extra work. Rubs are popular if you don't leave them on too early as any salt can draw out moisture.

I'm like Darcy, no more than 4 minutes each side.

Alas, I really like the prime steaks, not the choice you get in the markets, there is a difference! More fat and flavor, but hate paying the fare: $25 and up for a good steak in a fine restaurant. So I don't eat much steak at home, but hubby will have one once a week. It's is only beef meal per week so goes for the gusto.
I take the steak and slice a few small holes in it and insert small pieces of peeled garlic. Then I salt and pepper the outside, massaging it in. The I rub a little olive oil on it.

I let it sit for a few minutes to take the chill off and to allow salt and pepper to set.

Heat oven to 350ish.

Heat cast iron pan to pretty hot and add a little olive oil (or pam if you're being good). Sear steak on one side for about 3 minutes, flip, sear for about 2 minutes, then place pan in oven for about 5.
Put the steak on a kitchen fork and hold in the fireplace. When my arm gets warm, the steak is done! :excited:

Well, when I DO cook this is how I do it!
We rub ours with salt, pepper, garlic, lemon pepper and Tony Cacheres seasoning. Then we marinate in Italian Dressing and Worcestshire (I am so sure that I spelled that wrong) Sauce. We only marinate for 3 or 4 hours usually for steak.

We use this on all of our meats that are going in the oven or the on the grill.
We like Rib Eyes.
Hubby uses a salt, pepper, garlic mix lets it sit for 1/2 hr.
Then he grills it to a med rare.
As soon as the steaks come off the grill melted butter is poured over it.

Billy likes his with sauteed mushrooms and onions on it.

SOOOOO GOOD!!!!
All this, and my grill is out of gas.
I have two tanks - TWO- and I am still out of gas.
Heads are gonna roll.
Right now, I'd sit through a root canal for a really good steak.
(alright, maybe not, but I could really eat a good steak)

Shellie
I like my steak delivered to me in a plate from a maitre d !! lol

Kim's right - Nita you don't cook !!! lol
I make a marinade of a bottle of beer , Montreal Steak spice, a little vinegar and olive oil and soak overnight. YUMMY!!!
