1 year

Well I can't believe that Walter is almost a year old...how time flies!

Anyway, I was thinking about the year mark and was wondering if there are things I should have a vet check at 1 yr. I know people have suggested an 18 month check-up for various reasons.

There's nothing i'm concerned about; he eats well, exercises often, has lots of energy, hasn't eaten anything harmful recently (that i know of), and is generally well.

Is a year a good time for a vet check, or should I wait till 18 months? Either way, what are some of the things i should have my vet check/look for? Thanks in advance!

He will need a rabies booster 1 year from when he got it as a puppy. That would be a good time to do an annual checkup, as long as there are no pressing concerns. In most areas, the 1st rabies vaccine is good for 1 year, then every 3 yrs thereafter. And it is nice for him to be seen so they have an updated look at him. That way if something does come up later, they will have seen him and have a better mental picture of him to compare to.
Out here they have to get shots every six months so they get checked at that time. Whenever he is due for shots I would make sure they check him. Also, I always check them continually when I pet them, for anything abnormal, such as skin conditions or bumps, lumps, etc.

A whole year! Go Walter. :go:
