Do sheepies hug legs?

When Edgar gets very excited outside he will grab you around your leg with both paws and wraps them around you. Like he is hugging it. Is this normal? Do all sheepies do this?

It feels so weird when it happens because I have never had another dog do this to me. He is not humping your leg or anything.

In fact this morning he climbed my husband leg like a pole. One paw up over the other wrapped around his leg while he was sitting down.

Yup!
I think OES will hug any body part they can reach. He just isn't tall enough to get any higher yet.
I didn't realize this was different from showing dominance. Whenever Bingley starts to close his legs around us we immediately ask him to stop. Hmmmm - can't wait to hear more responses!
I think it depends.... if he's humping at all, I think it's dominance.
Chauncey loves hugs, the problem now is he's taller than I am. I miss the leg days.
Yes - some sheepies do ((hug)) you! :D
Yes, Panda does this too...mostly when we are playing in the backyard...its the start to knocking me down 8O Inside the house she just does it for comfort....quietly and lovingly.
Violet has used theis "move" when we are playing with her. I always thought that she was trying to knock me down, so that she would win. (cheater lol).

I agree. Harry is a hugger.

Awww...what a sweet picture!! :hearts:
I love that picture. :hearts: What an amazing thing!
Yep, that's pretty much the mental picture I had!
Yup, both my sheepies give hugs :P :P
I thought it was just Sheila trying to show me she is really the boss! This gives me more insight into her Sheepie behavior.
I love that picture of Harry... :hearts:
My boy hugs legs only when he humps them :D
I fear that behavior ("hugging") is indeed a form of dominance.
I do not think it is a good thing for a dog to physically be on or over you, or to manipulate your position.... Particularly to knock you down or to reposition you...
Still, its almost impossible not to hug back...
That picture of Harry is co sute!!!

Pepsi is a hugger too, he also will grab my leg with one paw and leans against me when I ignore him.
Not Rags, but she will paw at us.
