DO you get stopped a lot when out with your sheepies?

So we had our first stop on our walk yesterday by someone driving by all excited asking if Edgar was an old english sheepdog. Very excited about that.

Then we had our first Petsmart experience today. We went in to get some training treats that Darcy recomended and to get his ears plucked. I can't believe how many people came up and asked about him. Is this most people's experience when they are out with their sheepies?

He was so good. Every time someone new comes up to him he gets all excited and bum wiggles and sits for pets. Very proud of him.

The ear hair removing was HORRIBLE. I felt like an anxious parent sweating over their baby as he was yipping and barking and having wads of hair taken out. I came home all shaky and upset feeling even though I knew he needed it done. And the person who took it out was very nice and sweet with him. I think Edgar forgot about it the minute it was done but I was a wreak!

Oh boy. Bingley got his first yeast infection from the bath he had last Sunday. It led to a trip to the vet and tips on ear-hair-plucking. It is an amazing experience. I was being much too gentle with him. A lot comes out at once, doesn't it?! It's hard, but like you said he'll bounce back immediately!!!

We get stopped everywhere, too. I love it when the kids at the beach come up and try and surround Bingley. It is like he feeds off their attention and becomes the model puppy!

Edgar is soooooo cute.
My daughter's big complaint about walking our OES trio is being stopped. Constantly. Most of the time, being stopped is fine. I won't stop if I don't have time, etc. so I'm ok with it. The downside to having unique dogs is that ours get blamed for every pile left anywhere, even as we're standing there, with bags full of dog leavings in our hands, odors wafting towards the complainer who couldn't possibly consider that other people without the obvious pockets full of bags to collect leavings might in fact, not pick up after their dogs. It's frustrating when we're standing there, bag full and in hand, the complainer just having watched us pick up. Sigh.

When we got our first OES, I hadn't really thought about the fact that I didn't know anyone else with one and that he'd be a real attention grabber. And now, with the puppies, well, yes, we get stopped a lot. They do look like big toys, really.

I feel rather neglectful because I don't pluck my dogs ears. They don't seem to get infections, either. I clean them out once in a while.
We get stopped all the time. There are people in the neighborhood that know him now and come out to see him if we are going by.
I've had people stop their cars and get out and people stopping us in a parking lot to see Mojo.
My oldest son calls him a "chick magnet" because he attracts the girls!
Yes, everyone here thinks we have a bearded collie (shaggy dog from the movie). They call their friends over to come pet the shaggy dog and then run to their parents to say they want one. I love it but lately it's been hard to manage Yuki on a leash and carrying my little boy because kids tend to charge at our dog.
If you are walking 4 at one time - people always stop us and ask about the dogs. I have had cars stop in the middle of a busy street and roll the window down and ask what breed they are. And then they want to know why Marcus looks the way he does. Sheepdogs here in Louisiana are few and far between.

At Petsmart I have started to limit the # of dogs I take. I just can't shop with 4 of them  Most of the time I take just Lucky & Sam. London still has a bad habit of jumping up on people (ummm I think I may be at fault here as she is use to me picking her up when she does that).
We get stopped all the time.
They all wanted to cudle with them :hearts:
Between the sheepdogs and the Great Pyrs, we can't take a walk in public. One or the other always brings inquiries. But maybe that's why we are attracted to sheepdogs? We want people to notice them??
I have four dogs,a yellow lab, a black lab, a german shepherd and an Old English sheepdog. Guess who gets the most attention? If I take him to a dog event we are mobbed, it takes us for ever to get from point a to b. but we meet a lot of nice people too. Many children ask "may I pet your dog please?" how can you say no. I am looking forward to taking Guinness to the OES show in VA because he won't stand out!! We will just blend in and get to see all the beautiful show sheepies.
We frequent several dog parks, and when we arrive it is always such a big commotion. People point and stare, and I hear comments like "They are so beautiful" and "are they sheepdogs?" and it is so nice to see the smiles that they bring when people watch them shuffle around.

I guess it doesn't hurt that they are both attention hogs and run up to people for hugs and to give kisses.

Oh, yes...we gets LOTS of notice...
Clyde used to get all the attention but now, people are usually more interested in Bear at first glance I think mostly because of his size and because they've never seen a Komondor before. If Lucy is standing behind the boys, she doesn't get noticed until last. Since they're so big, you can't see poor little Lucy. We get all kinds of questions because they have 3 different breeds of dogs to ask about!
Yep we get stopped too people just want to give maizie a cuddle... Took her out yesterday just walking down the road and there was a man behind us we stopped to let him past 'he said to me what a lovley dog.. Ha she was all nice and clean and groomed from her bath lol lol

Kim & MAIZIE
We get stopped ALL the time. They're a rare breed around here.
Yes, Bailey gets a lot of attention. People have stopped their cars while we're out walking. People come up to him when we're at Petco. We call him The Prince, because total strangers act like his loyal subjects coming to pay homage to him.
Panda gets stopped all the time too! Even in our own neighborhood where they see us all the time! They just need a sheepie hug, and Panda, the girl that she is, is always accomodating!

They also worry about her "blindness" too.
oh yeah, fine bring that up too! Yes, a lot of people wonder how a ''blind'' dog can run so fast and furious...... 8O
Chipper brings lots of attention... funny thing, most don't know our (human) names, but they know Chippers!!!! Kids in the neighborhood call me the "Shaggy Dogs Mom"......

And everyone at my son's baseball field knows Chipper... and CHIPPER LOVES it!
Yes, Sheepies do attract an abundance of attention. Usually kids will see you coming and run to touch the hairy doggies.
oh yes, everyone has to stop and look at her. We always laugh because people inevitably say one of three things:
1. What a beautiful dog! What is that? I've never seen one before.
2. Oh, a sheepdog! I used to have one. Aren't they wonderful?! (It always amazes me how few sheepdogs you see, yet so many people say they used to have one.)
3. What a pair! You've got both extremes, huh? (referring to the sheepy and the pug together).

My husband and I always laugh and bet each other about which thing certain people will say when we see them making a beeline for our baby.
