Finally having surgery - reversal of tubal ligation

This road to the tubal reversal has been a long one. After a few discussions with the DR, and his assissting with my obgyn..he is not sure if I can be reversed now. The Operating room does not say exactly which technique the dr did, and what she did while he assisted in...is two cut in the tube, possible making too much damage.

However her report said 1 cm removed, and she did say yes we can reverse them. So he and I are confused as to when she started this second additional cut...because mine failed, I feel she started after me...anyways to make a long story short...

he is going to go in by laproscopy and see for himself if I have healthy tubes, how much length and how much damage...I need a min of 4 cm to get pregnant...most women have 10 cm...so I should have 9 cm...

He will also be able to see the condition of the ovaries and uterus...incase we need to go with invitro. Best of all he found a way to have our health care pay for this day surgery, so we will get all the info and be prepared for which technique we can do.

A reversal will cost approx $5000...if we went ahead based on the OR report...I could be wasting that kind of money. He did not want to take that chance.

IVF will cost approx $7000...and we could have twins.

So the reversal is what we are hoping for. My surgery is Oct 6th. Then we may have to wait another 5 mths before I can have either reversal or IVF.

Best of luck with it!
Thanks,

Sorry to repeating the whole process again...I just figured I'm not to common and new ones won't know, but might be interested... :lmt:

I'll update again after I have it done. For all you on the edge of your seats...LOL :excited:
Good Luck Bev, I hope it turns out well. :plead:
Good luck! :)

I had laproscopic surgery a couple of years ago to remove scar tissue and adhesions, and they checked everything out while they were in there as I was still considering having my tubes untied as well. They found everything was good, better than what the operating report from when they were clamped suggested.
The laproscopy itself only left 2 small one inch scars, and recovery time was fast. I may have lengthened it though by doing too much immediately afterward.... I definitely suggest taking it easy for a couple of days.
Best wishes and good luck with everything, I hope your dreams come true and keeping all positive thoughts going that it will be successful. Start of an amazing journey. :D
Good Luck, I hope it turns out well
Good LUCK!! Ii hope you get the GOOD NEWS you are waiting for!!!!

As for thr laperscopemy, It took me about 4 days to feel normal. Just get lots of sleep and no lifting anything!!!
Isn;t it a long weekend...I'm not sure right now but someone said we have thanksgiving on the 9th??? Seems early to me, but that makes Fri, Sat Sun and holiday Mon...which is perfect since Rob will be home to take care of the kids and me... :D
