Will we hit it off?

Hi All

I've been looking for a sheepie for a while now. There's one on petfinder named Electra, she looks like such a cutie. The shelter that she is at is 9 hours away from me. My question is, what if we don't hit it off? What if she doesn't like me? I don't want to drive that far and have it be a bummer. What should I do? Thanks.

I have no idea how to answer your very heartfelt worries, other than to say that even if things don't work out, a couple of weeks from now you won't even remember the drive as a significant part of your life's history.

If it DOES work out, your sheepdog will be a very big part of your life story.

Good luck, whatever you decide. Keep us posted either way!
I say if you really have done your research and know what you are getting into then go for it. Call and talk to the people who have Electra and find out her personality and needs. Then think about how well Electra would fit into your home. If it then all feels right I am sure you would not regret the drive or taking a chance. Some of the best things in life are by chance! 8)

Electra looks like a Doll and sounds like she is really sweet. I would make the call and take the chance and give the girl a forever home :D
I have started a list of quesitons I want to ask. I want to make sure I cover all the basics, anyone have any suggestions for questions to ask? Thanks.
Alice,

You may want to contact the OES Rescue in your area. I'm not sure where you live - but since Electra is in Texas - I assume it's somewhere nearby.

Go to http://www.texasoesrescue.com/ for more information!

(That's if it doesn't work out with Electra - she looks like a cutie!).

Alice!

PLEASE let me know what you decide with Electra!

I have been watching and hoping that she finds a home since she went on PetFinder. Her story on PF breaks my heart.

Seeing her friend killed on the road, then ending up in a shelter. I've thought of finding a way to adopt her myself. The only thing that has held me back is wondering how two females the same age would do together. (My Maggy is 3 also)

I had no idea how Maggy and I would get along when I sprung her from the pound either. She was a mess in there--mentally and physically. Once she was "home" it was a different story. It's almost as though she is grateful to me for saving her. She is my sweet little shadow now! I'm willing to bet it would be the same for you and Electra. :D

Electra has one of the sweetest faces I've ever seen! And in full coat she will be adorable too!

I'm so glad to hear you are considering her adoption! Good luck! :D
