Nelson loves his Everlasting Treat Ball. We never let him have rawhide chews and he'll go through the edible bones in no time. It takes days for him to chew through the edible part of the Everlasting Treat Ball and is more economical in the long run. Plus, he has fun carrying it around the house.

Here's a link to Amazon.com for oes.org's benefit...

How about raw bones?
Marrow Bones, Soup Bones, Beef Rib Bones.
They are long lasting and really good for their teeth.

And they can be reused if you boil them and stick stuff inside (peanut butter, wet food) and freeze them!
Have you considered the hard pressed rawhide? It lasts quite a while. Of course, I won't give any chew without supervision, but these ones IMO are a lot safer than normal rawhide or pigs ears.
When it gets soft and gummy I throw it away so they can't get any peices off it.
Nylabone
Here's a GREAT tip I got from my breeder: smoked knuckle bones. They are HUGE and will last a very long time. You can find them at any pet market type store. :D
GREAT TIPS EVERYONE THANKS. I HAVE TRIED THE COMPRESSED RAWHIDE BEFORE AND SHE AND MY SHELTIE BOTH GOT SICK AND THREW THEM UP. YUK :? IM REALLY NOT INTO THE NATURAL BONES AS I HEARD THEY CAN SPLINTER SO I AM CAUTIOUS ABOUT GIVING THEM THOSE. THIS SITE IS SO INFORMATIVE, LOVE IT~
Sounds like nylabone is the way to go for you then :) Some dogs love them, some want nothing to do with them....
Nylabone.

Mullie is a chweer and hasn't gone through 1 yet, though one is close (and he has several to chew on).

Get the ones marked for "powerful chewers."
Chewie loves our nylabones - we had a variety of them before he came to our house. He has started something - he chews them so much that he has apparently convinced the other dogs they are the best toy! Even our Min Pin Dino was chewing on them!! and he NEVER chews on any bones or toys. It is pretty funny, but I'm just glad he likes them.
I'm with Emily - knuckle bones are the best - Ollie will chew on one all day - he gets a knew one every Saturday, infact our pet store sell "postmans legs" - its a huge leg bone LOL
Finney loves hooves. They're only 99 cents at the local pet supply store. He's had the same one for about a month and a half and it's no where near being done. He likes when I fill it with peanut butter and stick little bits of treat or even dry dog food in it. It's really good to keep him occupied when I have to gate him in while I'm away for a little while. We discovered that he liked them while we were visiting my mother-in-law. Her dog has one and everytime we visit, Finney finds it no matter where it is and chews it the whole time we're there. The only drawback I've found so far is that they can really stink after a good chewing.
Flavored Nylabones are the best
Just a tip that I learned from the folks at Petco - if you allow your dogs to chew on cow hooves (we do) when they get horribly smelly - throw them in the dish washer. Once clean give them back. It works and takes the smell out.

Yah! I always give mine that
SO THESE KNUCKLE BONES YOUR TALKING ABOUT ARE FOUND AT THE PET STORE? DOES THE COLORING RUB OFF ON CARPET BECAUSE SOME WHEN WET WILL DO THAT. SO WHEN THEY ARE WET ARE THEY YUCKY, OR GUMMY I SHOULD SAY, LIKE RAWHIDE? I DID GET THE HOOVES FOR MY SHELTIE BEFORE THAT WERE FILLED WITH PEANUT BUTTER AND HE LOVED THEM BUT MY OES CAN STICK THE WHOLE THING IN HER MOUTH AND I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT IT BEING TOO SMALL.
At stores I have been to - some of the bones are "basted" in a flavoring and that does rub off on furniture, etc. If that is a concern, I notice that they come plain (white) too. I send the new (basted) ones outside as toys, when they are older (and white) they get to bring them in the house! They are never as nasty as rawhides. (which I don't get anymore because of choking, bowel blockage and other risks.)

I think the hooves are too small for an OES too.
