A Different Type of Rescue For Us

Last friday night my sister was coming home from work and saw in the right lane of the Interstate what appeared to be a really great dog carrier. So she pulled over on the side of the road and braved the big trucks at midnight and grabbed the carrier. She called me all hysterical because there was a puppy in the carrier. She brought it over and true enough the crate appears to have fallen off the back of a vehicle as it is bashed in on one side,....and the "puppy" that was in it came running out apparently totally unharmed but a bit nervous. The "puppy" had no tags, no collar, not microchipped, nothing written on the crate as far as a name or anything. We have contacted the state police that patrol the Interstate, all the local SPCA, posted on the lost and found on petfinder and on craigslist and so we wait.

Meet our latest "puppy" rescue (we are calling her Pumpkin):

Poor Sam jumps three feet straight into the air everytime the little one runs between his feet. London doesn't understand why it doesn't want to wrestle. And Lucky just ignores it.

The vet said that it is approx 1 year old little female. Obviously this was someone's baby as she has been spoiled (I don't think she has ever had to walk anywhere). I do so hope the owner contacts us. If not a good friend that has an equally spoiled Maltese has offered to take her.

OMG! How CUTE is she!! Poor thing - I wonder how long she was on the side of the road before your sister found her. And thank God your sister stopped!! Keep us informed of this little Pumpkin cutie!
Thank goodness your sister stopped!! I hate to imagine what would've become of the puppy otherwise. Bless you for keeping her Wyn! I'm sure you'll do the best thing for her.
She's incredibly adorable!!
I am so thankful your sister stopped.
She is so cute. What a perfect name.
Oh Wyn, she is so cute! I'm a sheepie momma and not gonna change, but I could keep a baby like her in fast NY minute... That face is beyond darling. You and your sister are angels!
Oh my gosh.... way too cute!!!! I'm so glad your sis stopped as I'd hate to see that little thing hurt!
OH MY GOSH she is cute!!!!! If you lived closer, she'd have a furever with me. I do hope she gets reunited with her owner, who is probably worried sick.
I'd keep her. She's so small you'll never even notice the extra one! I've always wanted a pocket dog to ride on one my big guy's backs. :)

I don't know about spoiling, though. Would any of keep any of your beloved dogs in a position that they could fall out of your car into a busy highway? I wonder if she was just tossed out? If it were at a rest area or something, I might think she was left on the top of the car and they took off or something but how do you lose your dog n the middle of a highway? Am I missing something?
I am so glad your sister stopped. The pup is a sweetheart. :hearts:
I agree.....boy she is cute I think even I would keep her , then I would have an even 6
She is adorable - and lucky she wasn't injured or killed.

The little ones are easy - my SIL's foriegn exchange student called them "sample dogs"!!
OMG what a cutie, I would keep him, if nobody claims that poor baby :hearts:
Oh, thank goodness your sister rescued him, how awful for the poor sweetheart :(
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a DOLL!!!!!!!!!! Someone must be just heartbroken!!!!!!!! But on the flip side, who puts a dog that small in the back of the truck????????

Ty says VAVOOOOM, he loves brunettes, you can send her North anytime!!!
I sincerely hope someone is heartbroken, but then why have the dog outside the vehicle? Could this be a dump job? Or more likely one member hating the dog saying, "No the dog will not ride inside" and then not securing the crate in hopes it falls off. Then "No, we aren't calling about that dog. It is surely dead by now."

Or was she from a puppy saleman taking her to the next pet shop?

This little girl deserves a family who will adore her and protect her. Such a tiny needs a loving guardian.
I have to agree...How did that cute little fuzzy get there. And by George is she a cutey!!!!

Your parents must be proud to have raised such loving adults!!!

I must say though that except for Garfunkel(think snack) I would want to keep her too.
By chance have you taken her to a vet to see if she is micro-chipped?

I agree with everyone, in that I could never put my dogs in a crate outside of the car especially one that is so small.

She is in great hands and I'm sure will have a great home after this ordeal. Thanks so much for stopping!

Michelle, Lulu, Dudley and Little Ellie
She is not microchipped (we did have her checked) and we have had Zero inquiries about her. We are not going to keep her as she is just so small she keeps getting stepped on by one of our sheepies. We just aren't the right home for a small dog right now otherwise I would keep her. My friend and co-worker with the spoilt rotten maltese, Abigal, is going to take her.
