do I want a darker grout to match the tile or no? What looks better? Mr. J is in the field so I can't ask him. For reference, this is what it looks like now. I kinda think it looks fine the way it is (this is 13" tile not the 18"). |

Light grout gets so dirty, especially with dogs (and in your case kids). I'd definitely go darker than lighter. |
So it wouldn't look weird? I don't know what the norm is ...or if it will make our house look so dark or even take away from the tile. |
I went light because I liked the look better (when it was new ) but now I'm down scrubbing it to keep it clean looking
Joah can you get some of the tile and then lay them down on a dark and light b/g to see what it would look like? |
Yeah, I'd go with the darker so you don't work yourself to death keeping the light color clean. |

been there done that ended up with dark grout anyway |
Did you call him back and go with dark? - I hope so you'll be happy you did. Let us know |
I did! I'm glad I have you guys. Mr. J coincidently called from the field and he's concerned the tile isn't dark enough. Hard to tell from a pic, so we may go different tile too. *headache coming*
edit: okay realtor just called and she's going to email me 3 color choices. I'll of course post them when I get them. I'll need to decide ASAP |
Dark grout, but I'm not sure I would go with much darker tile. Your cabinets are darkish, and your appliances are black so I would stay mid tone, not light or terribly dark.
Lets ask Darcy, she'll know! |
this is exciting I love this kind of stuff |
Tile number 3 with a gray grout...it would look brown/gray after a while if it was lighter. I covered my floor tiles up with laminate. They were a shiny/bumpy white with white grout. The original owner musy have been crazy!!!! |
Dear GOD do not go with lighter grout!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
DO not go lighter! We just finished regrouting with a darker color behind the kitchen sink. I was only grouted for a few months--- GO DARK
abuckie ( I forgot to sign in) |
go with the color grout that best MATCHES the color of the tile... |
I tried to match the tile and the grout. It looks great on the backsplash, but so different on the floor. We even tried looking at it while on the floor - but now some of the the floor grout looks like a yellowish beige, while the backsplash looks like a dark beige. The entry grout looks like a perfect beige - the biggest area is yellowish. Ugggh! Learn from my mistake.
No matter what color of grout you get, seal it. If you get a good quality sealer, you shouldn't have to do it again for years. It really is a must with kids and dogs. |
Hopefully that's one of the first things we do when we go up to Houston to see the house. Stop at Lowes to get whatever it is we need to do it, and then do it. My dad offered to do it for us, and I'm tempted on letting him. I have no interest in sitting in an empty house but if he wants to... who am I to stop him /spoiled brat
Darcy, I'll have to go with you and ask them to just match the tile. I'm ready to move in!!!!!!!! |
